| Our Proud History
During the winter of 1945, a group of businessmen from the South Hills area of Pittsburgh, who were avid golfers, decided to explore the possibility of building a new country club complete with golf, dining, swimming and tennis facilities. The group purchased a 195 acre farm in Peters Township from the Bell family. James Harrison, a former employee of the world-renowned golf course architect Donald Ross, was retained to design and construct the golf course. In May of 1947, the Club was established and known as the Mt. Lebanon Golf Club.
In 1968, the members of the Mt. Lebanon Golf Club moved to a new facility and sold the original property to another group of investment golfers. On May 29, 1968, the facility was formally opened and named Rolling Hills Country Club.
In 1971, a nearby club named Nottingham Country Club sold their property and members of Nottingham joined Rolling Hills Country Club. In 1981, many members of the former Hidden Valley Country Club also joined Rolling Hills County Club. These increases to our membership assured an established base for the continued existence and growth of Rolling Hills Country Club.
Wanting to have one of the best private courses available, the membership made a commitment to improve the golf course and installed a modern irrigation system in 1982. That pledge has more than paid for itself in making the course one of the finest in the area.
In 1986 and 2001, the membership invested over two million dollars to renovate the Clubhouse and enhance other Club amenities. Since then, additional investments have been made to continuously improve the pool and tennis facilities, as well as the golf course. We have repaved our golf cart paths, installed sub-surface drainage under all of our greens, constructed several additional tee boxes, reconstructed all of our sand bunkers and made significant improvements to our practice facilities. We have remained both progressive and dedicated to keep pace with the desires of our membership.
These events, combined with the residential growth of Peters Township and the surrounding area, has allowed Rolling Hills Country Club to develop into an outstanding family-friendly facility with a very bright future.
